Obituary of Malcom Odell McKenzie

Bossier City, LA Memorial services for Malcolm Odell McKenzie, Sr., 59, will be held at 3:00 pm, Monday, July 8, 2013 at Boone Funeral Home, 2156 Airline Dr., Bossier City, LA. There will be no visitation prior to the memorial service.
Malcolm was born October 24, 1953 in Savannah, GA and passed away July 3, 2013 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Malcolm was a 1972 graduate of Bossier High School, where he was an All-Star city football player. Malcolm retired after 22 years of service with Steel Forgings Inc., located in Shreveport, LA where he earned the nickname "Rollman". Malcolm was a passionate outdoorsman who had a love of hunting, camping, and motorcycle riding with his great friends from Café USA, especially Jim Knight and Dean Pludgi.
Malcolm was also a devout husband and family man who selflessly dedicated himself to the love of his life for 39 years, whom he absolutely cherished, and his three exceptional children.
Malcolm is survived by his parents, Paul and Manfred McKenzie of Bossier City, LA; two sisters, Valerie Lund of Houston, TX and Debra Quinteros of Bossier City, LA; his beautiful wife Katy Bailey McKenzie of Bossier City, LA; his son Malcolm McKenzie, Jr., his wife Heather and their two children, Jaelynn and Madison of Allen, TX; his daughter, LaBanda McKenzie Allen and her husband Jason of Shreveport, LA; his daughter, Sarah McKenzie of Bossier City, LA, mother-in-law, Wilma Bailey of Bossier City, LA; and many other relatives, extended family and numerous friends.
The family would like to thank Malcolm's hospice caregivers, Gwen, Larry, and Tawonna; the Snell family, the Ware family, Annalou and Donald Ray Perkins, Amy Mace, The Cancer Treatment Center of Illinois, and Dr. Charles Hargon.
The family would like to extend a very special heartfelt thank you to Larry and Carol Gardner, the administration, the employees, and all contributors at Steel Forgings Inc. for their extreme generosity which allowed Malcolm to fulfill his lifelong dream.
