Obituary of Kenneth Edward Simpson

Kenneth Edward Simpson was born in Mercedes, Texas on November 14, 1948 and passed to his rest on September 12, 2018 at the age of 69 from Mantle Cell Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma which he had battled for 2½ years.  He was the oldest of three children and lived the majority of the first 18 years of his life on the family farm in Santa Maria, Texas.

Ken graduated from Southwestern Adventist University with a Bachelor of Theology degree in August 1971.  He and Chris were married August 18, 1971 and he attended the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary and graduated with his Master of Divinity Degree in December 1973.

Ken and Chris had two sons, Gary and Marc. 

Ken was employed by the Arkansas-Louisiana Conference of Seventh-day Adventists his entire career.  He was a Seventh-day Adventist Pastor for the first 28 years of his career, serving in several churches in Arkansas and Louisiana.  He finished the last 16 years of his career by serving in the Trust Services and Planned Giving Department of the conference administrative headquarters in Shreveport, LA.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Chris, son Gary and wife Heather of Apopka, FL, brother Clifton and wife Dian of Arlington, TX, sister Sharon and husband Edwin of Burleson, TX, two grandsons, Tyler and Kyle Simpson of Apopka, FL, three nieces and three nephews, six great nieces and three great nephews and a host of colleagues and friends.

He was preceded in death by son, Marc Simpson and his parents, Edward and Lillian Simpson. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Colquitt Christian Academy, “Ken Simpson Memorial Fund”, 3217 Colquitt Rd. Shreveport, LA 71118.  Condolences may be left in Kenneth Simpson’s online guestbook at www.booonefh.com.
