Obituary of Henry Stephens

Funeral services for Henry Louis Stephens, Jr., will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 21, 2010 at Louisiana Funeral and Cremation Care. Interment will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, January 22, 2010 at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, LA The family will receive friends at Barksdale AFB Chapel Two on Thursday, January 21, 2010 between the hours of 11:00 and 1:00 PM. Henry, better known as Cowboy, was born February 12, 1942 and died January 10, 2010. He was 67. He served his country faithfully for 44 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force in July 1980, and as a Master Electrician with the Civil Service, retiring in January 2009. He was known for his good sense of humor and most prominently his intelligence, love of books and the ability to acquire, apply and share knowledge in many diverse disciplines. Henry truly loved his family and was proud of each of his children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lovette Stephens, as well as sisters Sylvia and Loretta. He is survived by daughters Michelle Stephens Butler and Cherylene Stephens; sons Michael Stephens and ex-wife Debbie, Mark Stephens and wife Rebecca, and Hank (Henry III) Stephens and wife Yuriko; grandchildren Martinis (Toya), Ricquea, Jaudona, Christopher, Joshua, Monica, Nicholas, Jacolby, Whitney, Coleman and Cayenne; great-grandchildren Jalen and Uriah; siblings Ralph, Lorraine and Larry; ex-wife, and mother of his children, Gwen Stephens; and a host of nieces and nephews.
