Bossier City, LA Oscar Thornton was born Nov. 14, 1920 in Ravanna, AR and died June 1, 2012. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM, Monday, June 4 at Boone Funeral Home, 2156 Airline Drive Bossier City, LA. Oscar will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife Audrie at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, June 5 at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Plain Dealing, La. Oscar is a veteran of WWII serving in the Army Air Corps and retiring from the U. S. Air Force in 1962. He later worked for the Louisiana Dept of Transportation retiring after over 20 years. Oscar was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by friends and family. He is preceded in death by his parents John and Martha Thornton, wife Audrie and his siblings Jess, Penn, Meady, Johnette, Bud, Martha, Nathan, Jay, Fay, Shirley and grandson Jimmy Twitty. He is survived by four children: Walter Twitty and wife Sheron of Doyline, La., John Thornton and his wife Jerrie of Haughton, La, Perry Thornton of Jacksonville, Fl. and Pamela Thornton of Bossier City, La. Grand children Eddie Twitty, Stephanie Twitty, Gina Thornton, Amy Mattraw, Charlie Thornton, Andy Thornton, Vicki Thornton, and numerous great grand children, nieces and nephews. Honorary Pallbearers: Members of the Floyd L. Baxter, Red River Detachment of the Marine Corps League. The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
