Shreveport, LA - Mrs. Ward died in her home, in her sleep, surrounded by family, on August 17. A casual memorial service will be held for Mrs. Ward, age 73, at 1:30 on Saturday, August 30, at Phoenix Virtue Temple at 2601 Highland Avenue in Shreveport. Mrs. Ward was born in Avinger, Texas on March 3, 1935 to Frank and Dolly Brady. She moved to Shreveport at an early age and resided here until her death. Mrs. Ward was a professional photographer, medical sitter, civil activist, home-maker, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and Cub Scout den mother. Mrs. Ward dedicated her life to helping others and taking care of those in need. Mrs. Ward's greatest accomplishment was raising a hard-headed but compassionate family. When the grandchildren came along, the nickname "Nang" was adopted. She is survived by three sons, Dee Ward, Terry Ward and his wife, Paula, and Kenneth Wayne "Buck" Ward; grandchildren Aaron Ward and his wife, Trish, Kristine Monier and her husband, Chuck, Greg Ward and his wife, Lauren, Shawn Ward and his wife Davilyn, and Michelle Thomason; great-grandchildren Kaitlyn Holmes, Dori Monier, Jenifer Monier, Michael Monier, Alexander Ward, Gary Gass, Jeff Gass, Ellen Wraver, Rozalynn Ward, Kayden Ward, and Natalie Ward; and one sister Vivian "Jo" Rowell. She is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Delmar Walker Ward; one grandson, Zachary Ward; her mother, Dolly Brady, and 3 brothers Fred, Leo, and Lonnie Brady. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to the charity of your choice. The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Anil Veluvolu and his staff their patience and excellent care. We would also like to acknowledge the wonderful people at Willis-Knighton Pierrmont, 7th Floor, Chemo Treatment, Willis-Knighton Hospice, and the medical sitters from Home Instead.
