Obituary of Chester Ritchie White
Please share a memory of Chester to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Chester R. White, age 89, formerly of Camden, AR, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 9, 2014, at the Northwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Bossier City, LA. He was born March 10, 1925, in Buena Vista, AR, to Clarence and Willie White.
Chester served in the Navy in World War II before returning home to Camden to establish a career in the meat delivery business as well as working up the ranks to become Assistant Fire Chief of the Camden Fire Department. He was able to work hard and retire early so that he and his wife, Dorothy, could enjoy many years of retirement, mostly spent in South Texas square dancing and enjoying time with friends, but also involving extended trips across the country, often with their appreciative grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 62 years, Dorothy White; brother J.D. White and his wife Eloise; sister Hattie Laura White Lewis and her husband Stanley; sister-in-law Shirley White; and nephew Ronnie White. He is survived by his daughter, Diane White (Fairfield Bay, AR); grandson, Stephen Silliman and wife Natasha (Marshfield, MA); granddaughter Allison Sweeney and husband Brad (Little Rock, AR); two brothers, Marvin White and wife Kay (Bossier City, LA) and Fred White (Camden); nieces Laura Jo Lewis Price (El Dorado, AR), Polly Lewis DeBruin (El Dorado, AR), Jean White Vice and husband Ronnie and children (Dallas, TX), Teresa White and children (Bossier City, LA), and Aundria White Rockwell and husband John (Enterprise, AL); and nephews Brad White and wife Holly and family (Dallas, TX), Greg White (Austin, TX), Terry White (Maryville, TN), and Stacy White and wife Lori and family (Gladstone, MO).
Much appreciation goes out to his extended family for their love and support over the past few years that he lived in Bossier City. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Northwest Louisiana War Veterans Home or Hospice.
