Obituary of MSgt. K. Brown

IDA, LA - Services for Ret. USAF MSgt. James K. Brown, 91, will be held Friday, February 23, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. at Boone Funeral Home. Officiating will be Bro. Larry Allen, pastor of Hosston Baptist Church, where Mr. Brown was a member, and assisted by Bro. John Flemming, pastor of Emanuel Baptist Church in Vivian. Interment will follow at Jena Cemetery Saturday, February 24, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends and loved ones on Friday at Boone Funeral Home from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. and Saturday from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Kennon-Stevens Funeral Home in Jena, Louisiana. Graveside services will be held at Jena Cemetery with full military honors.
Mr. Brown was born March 7, 1915, in Gaydon, Louisiana to Terry and Margaret Kite Brown and entered into rest February 22, 2007. He served his country proudly enlisting in the Army Air Corp in 1937 and then the USAF during WWII serving all over the European Theater. After a 23 year military career, he became a welder with Modern Iron Works. In 1981 he began his lifelong dream of raising cattle in North Caddo Parish. He was also a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather; cherishing those moments when he could sit on the front porch swing with a baby or child in his arms and sing.
James was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and five sisters. Left to honor his memory are his wife, Francis Barnes Brown and six children, Elizabeth Walker, John I Brown and wife Rosi, James K. Brown, Jr., Mary Deemer and husband Eddie, Joseph H. Brown and wife Mary, Terry W. Brown and wife Cassandra and 19 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Joseph and Samuel Brown, Bryan Statham, William T. Brown, Phillip and Joe Walker.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Life Air, the ER and OR staff or WK Greenwood. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Hosston Baptist Church, POB 218, Hosston, LA 71043
