Obituary of Helen Evans Tirpitz

Shreveport – Helen Jo Evans Tirpitz passed away January 13, 2020.  A grave-side service will be held on Saturday, January 18, at 11:30 am at Forest Park West Cemetery.  Officiating will be Brother Joe Huffman, Southern Hills Church of Christ. 

Helen was born March 3, 1926, in Griffin, Texas to Raymond and Elma Skillern Evans.  She was raised in rural Griffin, Texas, and graduated from New Summerfield High School.  She was a long- time resident of Shreveport, moving here as a young woman.  Helen retired from East Ridge Country Club as the Office Manager.  Helen was a faithful member of Southern Hills Church of Christ.  She and her husband enjoyed many years of active participation and service through numerous ministries. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Wacyl Christene Evans Maris, and her brother, Sidney Lloyd Evans.

 She is survived by her husband, Morris Tirpitz; by her children, Christene Wade Weaver (Patrick), Robert Jack Wade (Judy), all of Lafayette; three grandchildren, Wade Strother (Marti) of Shreveport, Shannon Strother of Houston, and Cody Strother (Kendra) and wife, of Pace, Florida; 7 great-grandchildren and Evans family nieces and nephews.

Many thanks to the caring and competent staffs of Brookdale of Shreveport, Maison de Lafayette and Hospice of Acadiana for their tender care of Helen and support of the family.
