Please share a memory of Billy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Billy “Bronco” Schamerhorn, 78, of Shreveport, died May 6, 2020, at Willis Knighton Pierremont
after a lengthy illness.
It is with great sadness that our family says goodbye to Bronco, the ultimate wheeler and dealer,
who loved to laugh and have a good time. He was loved by many and cherished by his family,
and we know there will never be another one like him.
Mr. Schamerhorn was born August 19, 1941, in Shreveport, Louisiana to Clarence and Yvonne
(Barnes) Schamerhorn.
He attended Leesville High School in Leesville, Louisiana. Bronco was a well-known car dealer
and businessman in the Shreveport-Bossier metro area for over 50 years.
He was an avid fisherman and sports fan, and especially enjoyed watching his favorite college
football team, LSU, win the National Championship Title this last season.
He is preceded in death by his father, Clarence Schamerhorn, mother, Yvonne Williamson
(Stewart); grand-parents, James and Crissie Barnes; brother, James C. Schamerhorn;
mother-in-law, Anneliese Brewster; and grand-daughter, Cristal Cowan.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Karen; his daughters: Tammy Belk (Joe) and Lisa
Schamerhorn; sons: Troy Cowan (Carol), Chris Schamerhorn (Whitney); and many grandchildren
and great-grandchildren.
A special thanks to Dr. Charles R. Byrd for his guidance, kindness and compassion. We would
also like to thank Drs. David Green and Ryan Master and the nursing staff who took such excellent
care of our precious loved one.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, May 18, 2020, at 10:00am at Boone Funeral Home,
2156 Airline Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana, 71111.
