Johnny was born on February 20, 1951 in Marshall, TX to Johnnie Mae and Edgar Odell Doss. Johnny was known simply as “Oatmeal” to all his close friends and family. Oatmeal was a simple man who loved to read, fish, camp, and drink cold beer with his friends, especially Mr. Randy Glass. He loved anything to do with the outdoors. From “backpacking” across the U.S., water skiing with his grandbabies, to camping for 6 months on the river bank. He was one heck of a mechanic and loved driving 18-wheelers. Oatmeal loved his family very much. His favorite thing to do was sit around and tell stories and jokes. His favorite inside joke was “Done in 2 minutes or less”. Everyone that knows him has many fond memories of him that will forever leave an everlasting mark on their lives. His stories from his young outlaw days will be missed dearly but will forever be carried on in our hearts. Oatmeal never met a stranger and spending more than 5 minutes with him, you were forever a friend and a friend he forever was to you.
The family would like to say a very special thank you to Casey Sertuche from Whispering Pines Nursing Home for her outstanding care, love, and support of Mr. Johnny.
A memorial is scheduled for Saturday, October 20th at "The Barn" 315 Walker's Chapel Rd. Plain Dealing, LA at 6pm. Please RSVP via Text to Shawnee at 318-655-7811
