Shreveport – A Memorial Mass for Gerald F. Govin will be celebrated at 1:00 PM, Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.  Officiating will be Father Mark Watson.

Jerry was born September 22, 1923 in Grand Mere, Quebec Canada and joined his wife and son in Heaven on September 4, 2019.  At 20, Jerry served his country during WWII. He fought in five major battles, including the D-Day Invasion of Normandy on Omaha Beach and The Battle of the Bulge. After the war, he met and married the love of his life, Dorothy Martin.  Together they raised four children in Houston, Texas.  Jerry and Dorothy retired to Florida after 35 years of working as a Civil Engineer for The Austin Company.  In 1995 Jerry and Dorothy moved to Shreveport to be near their oldest daughter and her family.  In his spare time, he was an active member of the Lions Club International and enjoyed playing Bridge at the Bridge House. 

Preceding Jerry in death are his wife, Dorothy; and son, Gerald Govin, Jr. Left to cherish his legacy are daughters, Dorothy Hubbard (Lex), Merce Ransom (Bud); son, Glenn Govin; grandchildren, Lex M. Hubbard, J. Tyson Hubbard (Ciara), Dorothy H. Cornwell, Jill H. Suter (Patrick), and Laurie Wieghat (Tyler); great-grandchildren, John Cornwell, Dorothy Cornwell, Charlotte Suter and Paige Suter; and many other family members.
