Obituary of Margaret Clawson

Bossier City, LA, Margaret Mitchell Clawson, 74, Bossier City, Louisiana, died Monday, June 11, 2012 at Camelot Brookside in Jennings, Louisiana. Wife of Guy E. Clawson for 48 years, she was born on December 31, 1937, in Patmos, Arkansas, the daughter of Marvin and Nan Mitchell. Margaret attended Byrd High School in Shreveport, LA and graduated in 1955. She is fondly remembered as the greeter for the Bossier City Chamber of Commerce welcoming families moving into the area. Margaret also worked for the Bossier Parish School Board until her retirement as a bus aide for special needs children. She served in this capacity alongside her husband, Guy Clawson, who was the bus driver for 20 years. During Margaret?s tenure, she demonstrated her unconditional love and compassion for all children. Margaret was a member of Airline Church of Christ and was one of the original supporters for the Bossier KIDS foster care program through the church. She actively volunteered at Airline Church of Christ in the Young at Heart Ministry alongside her husband and many close friends. Margaret is remembered and loved by all as a generous and selfless servant for the community. Her secret philanthropy and tireless efforts enhanced the lives of those around her. The joys of her life were serving God, her family and enjoying the fellowship of her friends. Margaret was an avid fisherwoman and keen competitor during her Pokeno games. She could bait a hook at lightning speed. Margaret loved the natural beauty of God?s creations with the exception of snakes. Survivors include her three sons, Marvin Clawson, Maplewood, NJ, Mark Clawson, Jennings, LA, and Michael Clawson; six grandchildren who adoringly called her Mamaw: Brandon, Samantha, Mary Margaret, Nolan, Matthew and Bernadette Clawson; a sister Maurine Nickel; and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation is scheduled for Thursday June 14, 2012 from 5-8 pm at Boone Funeral Home, 2156 Airline Drive, Bossier City, LA 71111. Services will be held Friday June 15, 2012, 3 pm., at Airline Church of Christ, 2125 Airline Drive, Bossier City, LA 71111.
