Obituary of Billy Norris

A celebration of life service for Billy W. Norris will be held 10:00 AM, Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at Louisiana Funeral and Cremation Care in Shreveport. Interment will follow in Forest Park West Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Howard Forbes. The family will receive friends at Louisiana Funeral and Cremation Care between 6:00 and 8:00 PM on Monday, October 19, 2009. On October 14, 2009, Billy was called home by God at the age of 73. He was born on September 9, 1936 to Ernest Earl and Gladys Ruth Norris of Estes, MS. As a child, he resided in Meridian, MS, Memphis, TN and moved to Shreveport-Bossier area in the 1950s and stayed until 2007. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son and grandsons at Iron Hill Hunting Club. After he retired from years with Wholesale Electronics, he enjoyed spending time on his land where he remained until his health began to fail in 2007 and he moved to San Antonio. While in San Antonio he participated in activities, events and gardening not only in the city, but with Christian Family Church-SA. He was a true inspiration of unconditional love to family and friends and never turned his back on anyone, no matter what walk of life they came from. He remained faithful to his Lord everyday until the day his Lord called him home. He thanked God every morning for giving him a new day. Billy is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Opal Ruth Brown and Margaret Pauline Pullen; brothers, Earl Lamar, Ernest Alton and two infants. He is survived by daughter, Judith Allen of San Antonio, TX; son, Steven Norris and wife Sharon; seven grandchildren, Alina Fair, Daniel, and Corey Norris, Chad, John, Matthew and Jennifer Skinner, nine great-grandchildren; sister Dorothy Louise Young; many nieces and nephews. The family request in lieu of flowers donations be made to Alzheimer Association or charity of donor?s choice. The family also request that friends come in casual dress.
