Obituary of William George DeSoto

William George DeSoto, 79, passed away peacefully in the presence of his family March 31, 2017. Services celebrating his life were held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Boone Funeral Home, Shreveport. Pastor Tommy Allen of Lighthouse Baptist Church officiated. Interment followed in Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William G. DeSoto, Sr. and Mary Francis Burns DeSoto, his first wife Vera Kay Hawthorne; and sister, Emily Gum and Bob Gum and step-daughter, Martha Davis.
He is survived by children, Shannon Brewster and husband Michael, Tanya Martin and husband Terry, and William DeSoto III and wife Niki; grandchildren, Kerri Robinson, TaRhonda Champagne and husband Lee, Kaylene Brewster, Randy Martin, Stefanie Martin, and Lindsey Martin; great-grandchildren, Kadance Champagne, Kaison Champagne, and Kayland Scott; siblings, Nan Faulkner, Patsy DeSoto, Carolyn Dequa and husband J.D., Diane Lunsford and husband Charles, Debbie DeSoto, and Roy Glen (Bubba) DeSoto; nine nephews and five nieces; his second wife, Peggy Hawkins; step- children, Yvonne Wilson and her husband Phil; step-grandchildren, Chad Wilson, Chris Davis and wife Angel and Matt Wilson; step-great-grandchildren, Brandon Wilson, CJ Davis, Cameron Davis and Chandler Davis. Bill will be especially missed by his grandsons Randy and Brandon.
The family would like to thank Yvonne and Phil Wilson for their love, support and consideration.
