Obituary of Elsie I. Caulk

Please share a memory of Elsie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Benton-Elsie Irene Lane Caulk was born in Blaine Bottom, Oklahoma on July 15, 1924 and passed away on January 27, 2016 surrounded by her family in Bossier City, Louisiana. Preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and husband, Billy Caulk, she is survived by daughter, Pam Tramel; daughter, Marcelle Tubbs & husband Ronnie; grandchildren, Billy & Sabrina Gentry, Allen & Jamie Votruba, Zach & Angela Caulk; special granddaughters, Christie Tubbs & Misti Tubbs, ten great-grandchildren and niece Charlene Kimbrell. Elsie's early life was spent in Oklahoma and Texas before relocating to Bossier City in 1980 to be near her favorite pastime, horse racing. Louisiana Downs was her sanctuary where she made many lifelong friends and devoted 28 years as an employee retiring at the age of 88. Representing the greatest generation, Elsie was afflicted by polio at the age of 13 months but refused to accept a status of weakness, persevering fiercely through life with determination, sacrifice, loyalty, love and a reverent awe of our Lord. Appropriately a celebration of Elsie's life is planned for Sunday, January 31, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel at Louisiana Downs officiated by Chaplain Jimmy. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Horsemen's Protective and Benevolent Association at LA Downs.
