Obituary of Lloyd Webb Childers

A memorial service celebrating the life of Lloyd Webb Childers will be held at 3 pm on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 in the Sanctuary of St. Paul's Episcopal Church with Father Paul D. Martin officiating. Lloyd was born January 8, 1937 in Shreveport and passed away March 8, 2014. Lloyd was preceded in death by her parents, Colonel Robert L. Webb and Jean Guynemer Webb. Lloyd is survived by her husband, LtCol John Robert Childers Sr, USAF, Ret; sons John Webb Diamond and wife Ann, Robert Anthony Diamond and wife Julie, granddaughter Jane Webb Diamond , step children Lisa Childers Easterly, Jill Childers DiPerna John Robert Childers Jr, and Stefanie R. Childers plus six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by her faithful pet Ce Ce, who stayed by her side and brought her comfort in her later years. She was fortunate to have lived in many places during her Father's military career, including Tokyo, Japan where she attended The Tokyo American School for her freshman year in high school. She graduated from Fort Knox High School in Fort Knox, Kentucky, graduated from William and Mary College, Williamsburg, Virginia in 1959 and moved to Shreveport in 1960. During her life, Lloyd participated in many social and civic organizations. She taught school at St. Mark's Cathedral School, was the Louisiana delegate to the 1968 Republican Convention, and was instrumental in the development of the first Red River Revel. Lloyd was also the citizen's liaison for Barksdale Air Force Base, the state treasurer for The Daughters of American Revolution, member of the Rotary Club and the Colonial Dames. A lifelong member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church she served on the Women's Auxiliary Guild. Lloyd donated her time and financial support to many civic and charitable organizations. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of the Chateaus at The Montclair, the Williams Sitting service and a special thank you to Juanita Williams and Dominique Prude for their devotion over the last year.
