Obituary of Dwayn Emory Sheffer

Dwayn Emory Sheffer, a decorated Korean War veteran, died on February 18, 2017, following a brief illness. Dwayne was 84 years old at the time of his death.
Dwayne was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Donna Jean Sheffer and
his step-son Michael Henry Tate. Dwayne is survived by his daughter Debra Yvonne Sheffer, his step-daughter, Debra Jean Brewster, his step-sons Russell James Tate and wife Elaine, Clifton Robert Tate and wife Debbie, Patrick Shannon Tate and wife Kathleen, Rodney Shane Tate and wife Carol. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Erica Heinzel, Beau Brewster, Jenny Mc Vannel, Samantha Tate, Penny Melton, Michael H. Tate, Megan Tate, Katie Tate, Michael J. Tate, Eve M. Tate, Tricha A. Wilcox, Tanya Foley, Allegree Hawkins, Levi Tate,
Colin Tate, Garrett Tate, Deacon Tate, Joe Tate, and Heather Richards, and his
many great grandchildren.
Dwayne was born in Flint, Michigan on April 10, 1932. He lived most his life in Michigan. He was an avid fisherman as well as a gifted musician, who, upon his retirement, relocated to Louisiana where he lived until his death.
A local memorial service is schedule at the Veteran's Cemetery in Keithville, Louisiana on March 10, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Family and friends who live locally are invited to share in this celebration of his life. A separate, private, family memorial will be held in Michigan in August. Following the family memorial his ashes will be interred, with his wife's remains, at the Veteran's Cemetery in Keithville, Louisiana.
