Bossier City, LA ? Funeral services for James B. Harris will be 2:30 PM, Friday, May 14, 2010 at Boone Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Cemetery. Officiating will be Reverend Ray Raney of First Baptist Church of Bossier. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 13, 2010 between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00 PM at Boone Funeral Home. James was born February 19, 1930 and passed away peacefully May 10, 2010. He graduated from University of Alabama Medical School in 1957 and joined the Air Force during medical school. While serving at Clark AB in the Philippines, he was instrumental in coordinating the medical care of the Vietnamese evacuees in the last days of the Vietnam War. He was a dedicated family man that loved serving his country. James retired from Barksdale AFB after serving for over twenty years. James was preceded in death by three sisters, Geraldine Harris, Elizabeth Harris, and Mary Frances Zuckerman; and brother, Gerald E. Harris, Jr. and left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Joyce W. Harris; daughters, Paula H. Wallace, Catherine H. Nielsen; son, David E. Harris and wife Chris; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and sister, Winifred H. Patterson. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the John Williams Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church of Bossier.
