Shreveport - Edith Mae Turner Boland, age 92, of Shreveport passed away Thursday, August 27, 2015 in Bossier City, LA.
Visitation will be held at Boone Funeral Home, 2156 Airline Drive, Bossier City on Monday, August 31, 2015 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM at Queen City Cemetery in Queen City, TX. Rev. Larry Romack of Brookhaven, MS officiating.
Edith was born in Eldorado, AR to Burney and Roberta Turner on October 2, 1922. She was an active member in her church, Northpoint United Methodist Church and Eastern Star, Blanchard Chapter 236. She enjoyed ushering at The Strand Theatre for over twenty years and giving tours of the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium. In her earlier years she enjoyed flying, camping, and fishing with the love of her life, Leo.
Edith is preceded in death by her parents, Burney and Roberta Turner; husband of 50 years, Leo Boland; and sister, Irene Watkins.
Edith is survived by her daughters, Sandra Wakeland of McComb, MS, Carolyn Bryant and husband Gordon of Bossier City, LA, Janice Turrentine and husband Danny of Pittsburg, TX; grandchildren, Lyndra Wakeland Romack, Joel E. Wakeland, II, and Theresa Turrentine Ferris. Edith had eight Great-Grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Northpoint United Methodist Church, 6675 Hwy 1, Shreveport, LA 71107.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Ted Warren and his staff for their love and support, also Donna and the others of Gamble Hospice Care.
