Graveside services for David Gladden Emerson, Jr. will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Forest Park Cemetery West. Officiating will be Bro. Bill Kincaid of Baptist Tabernacle. The family will receive friends between 9:00 and service time on Thursday, at Boone Funeral Home, 3903 Meriwether Road, Shreveport. David was born in Wink, Texas on January 23, 1930 to David Gladden Emerson, Sr. and Clearean Fuller Emerson. He passed away at Grace Home on August 1, 2011. David grew up in Minden, LA and graduated from Minden High School in 1948. He was a Navy Veteran. He lived most of his adult life in Shreveport where he retired from WKM in 1986. David was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Donnis E. Sullivan Emerson; brother, Rev. D. A. Emerson and wife Ann; sons, David Glenn Emerson, Sr. and wife Becky, Bela Joseph Emerson and wife Mona; two stepsons, William David Sweet and wife Kwi, and Michael Wayne Sweet and wife Debbie; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and special friends Katie and Tommy Gadd. The Emerson family expresses their appreciation to the staff of Grace Home and Schumpert Hospice, Drs. Massingill and Fleniken.
