Obituary of Lee Roy Green, Jr.
We celebrate the home going of Leroy Green, Jr. After suffering a stroke, he passed away on Friday, September 4, 2020 at his home in Mooringsport, LA. Leroy was born in Brownfield, TX on May 20, 1947. After attending high school in Vivian, LA, he joined the U.S. Navy, serving a tour of duty in the Vietnam War on the aircraft carrier USS Bon Homme Richard. He was a tactical warfare technician and had a part in the modernization of the aircraft ejection seat. He earned the National Defense, the Korean Expeditionary, the Vietnam Expeditionary, the Vietnam Campaign and the Naval Good Conduct Medals .
He married his high school sweetheart, Stephanie Louise Walker on his first leave from the Navy on December 10, 1966. Among his many skills, he was an electrician for a number of years with the Diamond M. Oil Company and Cactus Oil Company after serving in the Navy.
As a proud Dad and Grandfather, he enjoyed entertaining his grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. He enjoyed boating, skiing, and horseback riding.
He is survived by his wife Stephanie and one son, Steven Roy and wife Jennifer Jernigan all from Mooringsport, LA. He has three grandchildren, Shaylee Kay, Mikah Steven, and Bailey Dorough. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lee Roy Green, Sr. and Billie Nell Penuel, and his younger brother Bobby Dale Green all of Karnack, TX. Other surviving family members are Lonnie Wayne Green and wife Susan from Longview, TX; Thomas Earl Green and wife Pixie from Harleton, TX; Lea Ann Reynolds and husband Chuck from Dunedin, FL; Billy Joe Green and wife Debbie from Campbell, TX; Alton Baze Green from Harleton, TX; and numerous nephews and nieces.
