Obituary of Mary Boyter

Mary Ann (Roberson) Boyter; born on March 13,1934, at Cotton Valley, Louisiana, was a resident of Shreveport for many years. MS Boyter stepped from this life into the arms of Her Lord, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, April 16, 2014.
Mary Boyter was preceded in death by her parents, J.W. and Carrie Adams Roberson. She is survived by two daughters, Beckie and Jimmy Lagars of Mansfield, La; Julie Adams of Greenwood, LA; a son, Joe and Karen Adams of Willis, TX; six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two brothers, John Roberson of Keithville, La and William and Pauline Roberson of Houston, TX.
Mary Boyter attended business school and later was educated as a registered nurse (RN). She also worked for the Caddo Parish Sheriff Department for about 15 years. Ms Boyter was made an honorary Caddo Parish deputy sheriff.
Mary Boyter was a member of Bethel Assembly of God Church, located in Shreveport, Louisiana. She had been very active in local church ministries, including hospital and hospice visitation, intercessor prayer warrior, A Senior's Moment Fellowship and convalescent home volunteer. Mary Boyter stated that "I feel I can do anything I put my mind to because in the Bible, Philippians 4:14 says I can do all things through Christ that strengthen me."
Mary Boyter was a Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) patient for 21 years. She was a 1991 MDA Louisiana Personal Achievement Award holder. Ms Boyter supported MDA as a volunteer worker at many events and represented MDA at many civic activities and functions.
Ms Boyter wrote a book about how God's miraculously healed her of ALS disease. Ms Boyter was invited by various churches and groups to give her amazing testimony about her 28 year walk with ALS disease. She stated that "God has healed me and I know that I am healed, no matter what my appearance may say." Mary Boyter was one of the most active individuals you will ever meet.
A memorial service will be held at Bethel Assemblies of God Church; 5801 West Bert Kouns, Shreveport, LA; Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 10:30 am.
