Garden Club MembersI have tried my best to get on the Messageboard and home that some of you still visit this page. I have met SamIam and she told me it takes a while to get on the message board. I have tried to be very patient. Would some of you email me at dinerwatson@bellsouth.net? Maybe you can tell me what I am doing wrong.

Laughter was the best medicineDear Nell, The last month I spent with you was never without the humor your life was based on. I know it was difficult to suffer the indignities of weakness and pain, but damn did we laugh it off or what? We weren't always close or visited a lot over the years but we always stayed in touch. It was a pleasure assisting you in your last days. I just did not realize how few you had left or we would have laughed harder and more! Your niece, Anne Houk

For Bill and BillieDear BillI am sending you this passage. It is 1st Corinthians. It is often used in wedding services. The word "charity" has been translated "love" in some versions and especially when used at weddings. But the "love" or "charity" speaks to a special kind of love and steadfastness that is not prideful and is tolerant, constant and enduring. After speaking to my sister and I, the minister for my father's funeral, who did not really know my Dad, chose this as a reading, and said that he thought it was appropriate for my Dad, even though he said it was more often used as a "wedding song". He was right. As it seemed appropriate for my Dad, it seems appropriate for you and Billie at this time. I hope it does to you, too. 1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be bued, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

What a wonderful woman we have lostBillie was such a special and loving person. You immediately felt as though she was your best friend. Even though we never met in person she has left a big mark on my life. To face the challenges she faced with such courage and humor should be the goal of us all. Thank you Billie for being part of our lives. Thank you Bill for understanding how special a person she was and sharing her with us. May God bless and comfort you in this difficult time.

To BillieDear Billie, I am sorry to see you go and will miss you, but glad you will be with all your friends and family passed before, and waiting to greet the rest with a big smile and hug, and a joke about the funny thing God said the other day. And I have no doubt you will be close enough to hear Him. You were and remain an inspiration in love and laughter, courage and strength, and triumph. Godspeed your little feet to the comfort I know you will find. Your flower will never fade. Love and Laughter, Dee
