Funeral services for Dorothy A. Windham will be held in the chapel of Boone Funeral Home, Tuesday, December 4, 2007, at 10 am, with Rev. David McCormick officiating. Graveside services will follow at Springhill Cemetery, Ringgold, LA at 1 pm on Tuesday. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Monday from 5-7 pm. Mrs. Windham died peacefully in her sleep while being treated at Willis-Knighton Pierremont. She was born on April 18, 1925, in Pittsburgh, PA. Dorothy served our country in the U.S. Army; but her true devotion was to her God, her family, and her church. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, and playing card games with friends. A member of Heritage Baptist Church of Bossier City, Dorothy enjoyed teaching and attending Sunday school, working with youth, and her activities with the Senior Saints. Having resided in Pennsylvania, England, Ringgold, and in more recent years Bossier City, Dorothy touched a host of lives by making them feel welcome, which was her special gift. She is well remembered for her inherit German work ethic and for her talent as a seamstress. She was dearly loved and will be sorely missed. Mrs. Windham joins her husband of 55 years, Edgar H. "Eddie" Windham, whom she honored and adored even in his death. She was also preceded in death by her parents Fred and Rosalina Cook; and four brothers. Surviving her are her children and their families: James and Cindy Windham of Mansfield, LA, Tom and Jackie Windham of Knoxville, TN, Sharon W. and Michael Eaves of Shreveport; brother Fred Cook; sisters: Rosalyn Brindle, and Kathy Kagle; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and one on the way. The family would like to thank Bud and Julie Beamer, Jim and Mary Ann Gibson, and numerous other friends for their constant love, support and friendship throughout the years. They would also like to extent gratitude to the nurses and staff of Willis-Knighton Pierremont. Please make any memorials to Heritage Baptist Church in her memory
