Obituary of Joseph Mark Santone
Joseph (Mark) Santone, 70, was born in Shreveport to Anthony (Tony) and Rosalie Fertitta Santone. Sadly Mark passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with cancer. A Celebration of Life Service for Mark are pending.
Mark graduated from Fair Park High School and attended ULM for a short period of time. During the Vietnam Conflict, Mark decided to join the Army to serve his country. The majority of his active duty time was spent in Germany. After various jobs, he settled into the oil field logging industry. He and a partner started the Horizon Mud Logging Company, where he stayed until he retired. As an avid reader, his personal library was massive. When not reading, he enjoyed the outdoors. He was known as a true Patriot and a very intelligent man.
Preceding Mark in death are his parents Tony and Rosalie Santone. He leaves behind a sister, Jeanne Santone Romero and husband Thomas; nephews, Mark and wife Natalie, Matthew and wife Brandi, and John and wife Ashley Romero; great nieces and nephews, Madyson, Dylan, Brianna, Morgan, and Rosalie; special childhood friend, Jack Elkins; and cousins and friends who loved him very much. Also surviving Mark are two uncles, John C. Santone and Pete Marascalco; and cousin, Camille Brocato who was more of an uncle than a cousin.
Anyone that knew him will miss his sense of humor, his endearing love, and selfless attitude. Mark and Jeanne developed a special bond early in life. He took care of his sister acting as mentor, brother, protector, and father to Jeanne her whole life.
