Obituary of Raymond E. Weaver
Raymond E. Weaver Sr., 83, was promoted to heaven on September 24, 2020 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Ray was born to Christian parents Rain E. Weaver and Mable Grace Weaver who preceding him to his homecoming as did grandson-in-law Bryan Hayes McManus. He accepted Christ as his Savior at 10 years old and was baptized soon afterward. Ray’s interests included his large family, fixing any and all items, very competitive golfing with his buddies and digging deep into theological and political discussions. These theological discussions came from consistently studying the Bible, and following God and Christ throughout his life. He spent decades teaching Sunday schools, as a Deacon, singing in the various church choirs and playing cornet in the church orchestras. He also sang in the Singing Ministers of Louisiana of Shreveport singing around the state. Ray also published three books on living the Christian life was recently working on his fourth Christian themed book. Ray lived as Jesus commanded in Matthew22: 37. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” Ray had a very exciting and illustrious 47-year career in the Aerospace Industry, which included the United States Air Force, The Boeing Company, Martin Marietta Aerospace and Lockheed Martin Corporation. He graduated in 1976 from Louisiana State University at New Orleans (now UNO) in Management. Ray is survived by his wife of 65 years Lana Weaver. They were high school sweethearts married in 1955 and the love of each other’s blessed long lives. They remained in love and devoted to each other for 65 years. Ray and Lana have two surviving children; Ray Weaver Jr. of Bullard, Texas and Lynne Weaver Smith of Shreveport La. Ray and Lana has six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and dearly loved them all! Ray Jr. and his wife Kim (married 43 years) have three sons, Raymond III of Bullard, Ryan at Holy Angels in Shreveport and Ross of Snowmass, Colorado. Raymond Weaver and his wife Ashleigh have three children, Jack, Sawyer and Sloane Weaver. Lynne and her husband Kerry Smith (married 38 years) have three daughters, Kourtney Smith Keim of Ruston, Louisiana, Claira Smith - McManus Shows of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Katie Grace Smith of Shreveport. Kourtney Keim and her husband Cassidy Keim have one son Callahan Keim. Claira Shows and her husband Andy Shows have four children, Irie, Wylde, Lazarus and Xenia. He was deeply and dearly loved by all and will be sorely missed.
