Patti Roberts Shreveport, LA September 9, 2005 11:12 PM I first met Mary Beth when we were both students at St.Vincent's Academy. (We called her Mary Beth back then.) Our paths crossed again when I began teaching at Creswell Elementary School. She was teaching Special Ed and I remember her being so kind to everyone, and very patient with her "special" children. In later years, we would occasionly see each other at the grocery store or just around town. She always had a smile on her face and a kind word for me. The last time I saw Mary was at a Shreve Baseball game last Spring. Once again, she smiled and we visited just like always. I am so sorry for your loss, but please know that Mary was a very special person, and she will be missed by all who knew her. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jeffrey Witte Shreveport, Louisiana September 9, 2005 10:59 PM My thoughts and prayers are with you during this emotional and trying time. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joyce Witte Shreveport, LA September 9, 2005 10:29 PM I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Mary's passing. My heart is heavy for your family because I know what a constant support she was for each one of you. I met Mary at Little League and she lifted me up by her sympathy and friendship when I was suffering after the death of my husband. It was very painful for me to go to the ballpark where he was supposed to be coaching, but when I felt alone in the crowd, Mary was so kind. I will never forget sitting with her at almost all the Shreve games when Will & my son were freshmen. I knew I could count on her to be glad to see me. She was completely devoted to her precious sons and they made her so proud and happy. I will be praying for God's comfort for you all. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Alyce & Thomas Ortiz Shreveport, LA September 9, 2005 3:08 PM We are so sorry for your loss. Our prayers and thoughts are with you and the boys. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GINGER GWINN SHREVEPORT LOUISIANA September 9, 2005 2:33 PM MARY WAS THE AUNT OF MY TWO DAUGHTERS. WHEN THE GIRLS WERE YOUNG, SHE WOULD ALWAYS TAKE THEM TO SEE THE NUTCRACKER BALLET. OVER THE YEARS AS THE GIRLS GREW OLDER SHE WAS ALWAYS SUPPORTIVE AND INTERESTED IN THEIR SCHOOL ACTIVITIES. A KIND WORD, WARM SMILE FOR ALL THOSE SHE KNEW. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joanne Hummer Bossier City, Louisiana September 9, 2005 2:28 PM My thoughts and prayers are with your family. I taught with Mary at Shriners for many years. She was a wonderful, caring and loving teacher to all of the children. I will always remember her kindness towards others. I am so sorry to hear of her passing. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Melissa Powell Shreveport, LA September 9, 2005 1:38 PM Mary was one of the most genuinely wonderful people I have ever had the honor of meeting. I, sadly enough, first met her when her first son died. I got to know her and Bill well during that time and Mary and I were very close while she was pregnant with Will and Matthew. I am fortunate enough to have a video from my son's first birthday party that Mary and Will attended. As happens, we lost contact with each other for several years, but we met again when both of our boys were in Boy Scouts. Finding that Mary was involved in her family's life as much as she was came as no surprise to me. Those who choose to give to others as she did seem to be the ones that always find time for those nearest to them as well. I believe we can all lea well from her that giving is in itself the greatest gift. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- jo ann calantone shreveport, la September 9, 2005 1:01 PM I remember when Bill introduced me to Mary several years ago at the little league field when our boys were young

September 9, 2005 7:49 AM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- joy lynn gaensehals shreveport, la September 9, 2005 6:55 AM I work in special ed. just as your sweet wonderful Mary did. I work with the preschool age children, placing them all over the parish for special support. I have put in 30 years as well. I have been in this type position for over 16 years. Mary and I may have been on different teams, her High school and me, preschool but, Mary ALWAYS had a smile and something nice to say about any person or situation. She was appreciated and admired. She had the biggest smile and laugh whenever she talked about her family. She loved and cared about each of you so much. I can not imagine the loss of such a wonderful person. I can only give you my prayers because you do not know me. Ever since that Friday after Mary had this 'attack' her, I have kept her and her family in prayers and positive healing. She worked so hard at her job offering to parents, students, teachers and staff support and guidance in only hoping in retu a smile, nod, pat,or thank-you for her compassion and love for children. She will be missed and never replaced at the special program center on knight street. May God send his extra love and patience to her family during this time. God bless. God has another special angel to assist him in looking over children in heaven. Joy Gaensehals
