Obituary of Dorothy Elizabeth Orr Rosson

Dorothy Elizabeth Orr Rosson was born September 22, 1928, in Oklahoma City, OK, and passed away June 20, 2018, in Shreveport. Her ordinary life was extraordinary. She is preceded in death by her grandson Adam Benjamin Van Gorkom and her husband of 55 years, James Thomas Rosson. She is survived by two daughters, Laura Elizabeth Rosson Coplin and Julia Ann Rosson Swedberg; grandchildren, Kimberly Elizabeth Van Gorkom Atkins, Spencer Benjamin Rosson Coplin, Aaron Christian Ware, Kristi Lauren Ware and great-grandchildren Dylan Ray Atkins, Zachary Tyler Van Gorkom and Briana Nicole Atkins, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was a long-time member of St. Paul’s Episcopal church; a 66-year member of the Social Order of the Beauceants, where she held local offices including past President and National Supreme Marshall; past President of Shreveport Medical Assistants; and member of the Red River Quilters. Services will be held on Saturday, June, 30, 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 275 Southfield, Shreveport, LA 71105. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either St. Paul’s; The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Donor Services, PO Box 98018, Washington, DC 20090-8018; or Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 3949, Shreveport, LA 71133-3949.
