Obituary of Darrell McGinnis

Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM, Monday, January 18, 2010 at Louisiana Funeral and Cremation Care. Officiating will be Michael Burrow. Interment will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 19, 2010 in the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Louisiana Funeral Care on Monday, January 18, 2010 from 12:00 to service time. A native of Belleville, Kansas, Darrell came to Shreveport in 1956 as an airman at Barksdale AFB. He met his beloved wife Carole in 1957 and remained in Shreveport after his discharge. Darrell went to work for Eddie Waschka Radiators in 1958 which he owned and operated for 30 years. He was respected throughout this area for being an honest and good business man. He was also known as a supportive, loyal and loving family man that truly loved his family. Darrell, 74, went to be with his Lord surrounded by his family. Preceding him in death are his parents, Earl and Evelyn McGinnis, parents-in-law John and Ann Young and son-in-law James W. Twitty. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 52 years, Carole McGinnis; daughters, Debra Helton and husband David, and Rebecca McGinnis Twitty; grandchildren, Emily Schwartzkopf and husband James, Sarah Helton and Jason Ainsworth, Jacob Helton, and Nikki Twitty and Jason Walls; three great-grandchildren, Devin, Madelyn, and Cassie; four nieces and sister, Sharon Ach and husband Bernie of Friend, Nebraska. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the St. Bonaventure Indian Mission & School or St. Labre Indian School.
