Obituary of Minnie Bogan

Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie H. Bogan, 92, will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at 1:00 PM in the Boone Chapel, Bossier City. Visitation will be held at the Boone Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 from 6:00-8:00 PM. Interment will follow at Springhill Cemetery near Ringgold, LA. Officiating will be Rev. Joe D. Clement of Kensett, AR, assisted by Rev. Buck Furlow from Southern Care Hospice.
Mrs. Bogan was born in Ringgold, LA, June 17, 1912 and died Sunday, March 20, 2005. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and Aunt Min to all the family. The Bogan family moved from Castor, LA to the Shreveport-Bossier area in 1941 and lived in Bossier City most of these years. Mrs. Bogan owned several rooming and boarding homes including the Old Union Hotel on Louisiana Avenue in Shreveport during the 1940's. She was a cashier for Hodges Auto Storage in Shreveport for over twenty years and also worked at Rubinstein's Department Store. She worked at the Louisiana Ordinance Plant during World War II for several years and also worked at the Bossier Medical Center when it was originally opened in the 1960's. Mrs. Bogan was a member of Central Baptist Church in Bossier City and a member of the Eastern Star in Castor, Ringgold and Bossier City for many years.
Mrs. Bogan was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Leeman Lester Bogan, her son Bobby L. Bogan, daughter-in-law, Marilyn Jones Bogan, formerly of Vivian, a granddaughter , Debra Anne Cummings, son-in-law, James Wilfred Cummings, sister, Ettrice Huckabay Cook, brother, Harold Ray Huckabay and parents Fannie and Will A. Huckabay.
She is survived by one daughter Mary B. Cummings-Moore and husband, Al N. Moore of Bossier City. She is also survived by grandchildren, Kay Cummings Hoffman and husband Chuck of Shreveport, J. Brad Cummings and wife Deborah of Bossier City, Corky B. Cummings and wife Margaret of Wichita Falls, TX, Vicki Bogan of Chattanooga, TN, Jeffrey Bogan of Richfield, MN, Georgia B. LeBlanc and husband Marvin of New Orleans, LA; step-grandchildren, Elizabeth Robertson, Mary Irvin and Ed Moore. Nine great grandchildren, two great-great granddaughters, and several special nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons: Brad Cummings, Corky Cummings, Jeffrey Bogan, Chuck Hoffman, Ed Moore, Will Cummings and Andy Cummins. Honorary pallbearers will be Lodwrick M. Cook, Billye C. Herring, Wm. Huck Cook and Sarah C. Mitchell.
The family would like to give special thanks to Sarah J. Black for her compassionate and loving care during the past several years at her home, as well as the nursing home. The family would also like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. Ted Warren, Dr. John Chandler, Southern Care Hospice and the Staff at Colonial Oaks Guest Care Center.
