Obituary of James L. Ferriter

Memorial services for Jim will be 2:00 PM, Friday, February 2, 2018 at Boone Funeral Home-Bossier. Officiating will be Chaplain Daven Lazenby of the Benton Fire District #4. Jim was born July 3, 1930 to James J. and Patricia M. Ferriter in Hartford CT. After graduating from high school he decided to serve his country in the United States Air Force. During his 23 year of service, he proudly defended his country in Korea and Vietnam. After his tours of duty, the Air Force brought him to the Shreveport/Bossier area where he retired. After retirement from the Air Force, he worked 20 years with the United States Postal Services. Preceding him in death is daughter, Terri Chaffin; parents, James and Patricia Ferriter; father-in-law and mother-in-law Tony and Edna Stojcich of Biloxi, MS; and sister, Judy Ferriter. Left to cherish many memories is his wife of 65 years, Mavis Ferriter; daughters, Patti Carstensen, Sheila Morris and husband Jim, Vicki Maurer, Toni Vessel and husband Dennis, and Debra Jamar and husband Randy; 18 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; siblings, Sheila Corrado and husband Frank, and Robert Ferriter; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Jim dedicated his life to serving his country and his family. He made many friends during his travels but always knew where his heart belong, his home and family.
