Obituary of Gloria Sammons

Bossier City, LA ? Funeral services for Gloria M. Sammons will be 2:00 PM, Sunday, May 2, 2010 at Trinity Presbyterian, 1944 Airline Drive, Bossier City. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery. Officiating will be Reverend Dan Hignight. The family will receive friends at Louisiana Funeral and Cremation Care, 3903 Meriwether Road, Shreveport May 1, 2010 between 5:00 and 7:00 PM. Gloria, 84, was born June 14, 1925 to Dovie and Alvin Maples in Holland, TX and passed away April 29, 2010 following a battle with vasculitis and end stage renal disease. She met the love of her life Colvin ?Sam? Sammons and lived the last 40 years of her life living in Bossier City. Gloria was well known for her generosity, strong faith in Jesus Christ and a sensor of humor. She loved her family and believed in family meals at the table. She taught her children that good actions come from positive thoughts and that belief was a major part of her life. In her spare time she loved working in her garden and reading. Gloria is preceded in death by her husband Sam Sammons; parents, Dovie and Alvin Maples; and son-in-law Donald Walker. She is survived by daughters, Joyce Parnell and husband David of Nash, TX, Patricia Walker of Warner Robins, GA and Elaine Chandler and husband Cary of Bossier City, LA; son, Bill Sammons and wife Robin of Katy, TX; six grandchildren, Stephanie Rainey, Michael Chandler, Kimberly Chandler, Blake Sammons, Keith Sammons, and Phillip Sammons; three Great-Grandchildren, Amanda and Josh Rainey and Hunter Smith; and sister, Louis Dry of Nederland, TX. Gloria will truly be missed by all that had the honor of knowing her.
