Obituary of Thompson Hargis

It is with great sadness that the family of Sue Carol Thompson Hargis announces her passing after a long and courageous battle on Sunday, June 24, 2007, at the age of 73 years old. Sue, as her family and friends knew her, was born September 18, 1933 in Murray, Kentucky. She married Arthur Wells Hargis October 14, 1950 and will be forever lovingly remembered by her husband of 56 years and their children, Terry and wife Darla Hargis of Hot Springs AR, Michelle and husband Mike Stanfield and granddaughter Ashley Stanfield of Shreveport, LA. She will also be affectionately remembered by her brother Ronald and wife Joyce Thompson, and numerous nieces and nephews many treasured friends and neighbors especially Jim and Rosemary Fiorentino. In 1967, Sue and Wells moved to Bossier City from Germany, and in 1968 she began working for Western Electric-AT&T, which later changed to Lucent Technologies. After 23 years of loyal service she retired from Lucent in 1991. "She was precious, a woman small in stature but large in generosity and kind heartedness. She laughed and smiled incessantly and always turned the miserable into an adventure in comedy. She made us laugh and she made us feel loved even when we didn't feel like laughing and did not feel lovable. We will miss her joy, her unselfishness and her love. We are all better people for having known her and having experienced her cheerful and mischievous nature. She was an inspiration to us all." We would like to thank the staff of the SouthernCare Hospice of Shreveport, Tonya, Sandra, Martha, Michelle and Brother Keith for their help, support and loving care during this very difficult time. Sue was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Elsie Thompson. A celebration of Sue's life will be held on Monday, July 2, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. at Boone Funeral Home, 2156 Airline Drive, Bossier City, officiated by Brother Keith Rowe.
