The family will receive friends at Boone Funeral Home-Bossier Chapel between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM, Thursday, February 12, 2015. Jim passed away peacefully on February 10, 2015 surrounded by his family. As a young adult, he proudly served his country as a SGT in the Army. After his military career, he worked installing all types of dental office machinery and equipment. In his spare time, he loved to go deer hunting and fishing. Always known for his joke telling, you would always count on hearing the joke of the day. He was also an avid bowler in several leagues throughout his bowling career. Another happy hobby James enjoyed was tinkering with anything mechanical. He could take anything apart and attempt to put it back to together. Most of the time, he was successful. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James Roy and Irene Carey; and son, Danny Paul Carey. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 62 years, Polly Carey; sons, James Anthony Carey and wife Cathy, Charles H. Carey, and David Carey and wife Teresa; grandchildren, Christina, Barbara, Sharon, Jennifer, Lauren, Zachary, Dan Carey, and Charlie Carey; great-grandchildren, Micah, Morgan, Andrew, Nathaniel, Beau, Bronson, Breagan, Mason, Savannah, Noah, Piper, Brody, Dylan, J.T., and Sydney. Jim represented a life full of honor and truth. He will be greatly missed by all that had the privilege of knowing him.
