Bossier City, LA- Mrs. Vennie E. Taylor went to be with the Lord on August 6, 2007. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 10, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church of Bossier City with Rev. David Dietzel officiating. Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. at the Smyrna Cemetery, Harleton, TX. Visitation will be at Boone Funeral Home, Bossier City, LA from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday August 9, 2007. Mrs. Taylor was born in Harleton, TX on the 13th of March 1914 to John Marion and Amanda Viola Fried. She attended Harleton High School and East Texas State Teachers College, upon graduation she taught in several small schools in the area. She married in 1942 and moved to Bossier City in 1947 where she was a resident the remainder of her life. Mrs. Taylor joined the First United Methodist Church of Bossier City around 1950 and remained a faithful member. Her church family was very important to her, especially the Parker Sunday School class. She also assisted in the church nursery for many years. She was an avid gardener and homemaker and contributed her talent to her church as well as the Bossier City Garden Club and Home Makers Club of Bossier City. Her parents, her brother Cecil Fried and her sister Vessa Faye Jones, preceded Mrs. Taylor in death. Her three sons; Ronald Taylor and wife Margie of Shreveport, LA, Gary Taylor of Bossier City, LA, and Dick Taylor and wife Jean of Baton Rouge survive her, LA. Her beloved grandchildren will miss their "Gran". They are David Taylor of Shreveport, LA, and Ashley Taylor of New Orleans, LA. A very special niece and nephew, Jaunita and Giles Blalock of Harleton, TX and niece Ruth Blalock Humphrey of Bryan, TX, also survive her. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Merrill Gardens in Bossier City, LA, and Nurse Care and Rehab of Shreveport, LA, for their loving care they extended in the last months of her life.
