Benton, LA - Donnie Cyr, 58, left his earthly life to be with our Lord and Savior. He was born October 26, 1958 in Wichita, Kansas, and died November 6, 2016 in Bossier City, LA.
Donnie is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 33 years, Kimberly Koeppen Cyr; his father, Arthur Cyr; brothers Roger and wife Sara, Tony and wife Tara; sister Lynne Young and husband Brian; father-in-law Kenneth Koeppen; brothers-in-law Kevin Koeppen and wife Ginny, Pat Turnage, Jeff Koeppen and wife Pilar, Sean Koeppen and wife Jill; sister-in-law Kelli Lindsey and husband Mike; nieces and nephews Roger Cyr, Rachel Libby, Krysta and T.J. Cyr, Lauren and Miranda Young; Matthew Koeppen, Elizabeth Farrington, Shannon Scalisi, Conor Turnage, Nathan Koeppen, Michael Lindsey, Ashley Williams, Sarah, Maggie and Zander Koeppen; great nieces and nephews Mason, Korie and Rylie Libby, Lorynn and Sadie Farrington, Braden, Heather, Abbey and Jarrett Scalisi, Andrianna and Amoree Williams, Chloe Lindsey; and his beloved dogs, Logan, Levi and Tanner.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Celeste Cowan Cyr; mother-in-law Dorothy Goonan Koeppen; sister-in-law Lynda Turnage, and niece Heather Turnage.
Donnie graduated from Airline High School in 1977. He entered the National JATC Program for the Electrical Industry in 1979. He completed his Apprenticeship and became a Journeyman Electrician in 1983. He was a proud member of the IBEW Local 194 in Shreveport since 1980. Donnie was a career employee of Wilhite Electric Co. for the past 32 years.
Donnie was a Charter Member of St. Jude Catholic Church. He loved his Church Family and his ACTS Brothers and Sisters.
Donnie was passionate about deer hunting, fishing for reds and specks in South Louisiana, and bass fishing on Cypress and Black Bayou. He loved life and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially when he cooked and shared meals with them. Our hearts are heavy with the sudden loss of our beloved Donnie. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Donnie was a generous, kind soul, and had a bright spirit. He always had a smile on his face and a sparkle in his eyes.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated for Donnie on Saturday, November 19, 2016, at 12 noon, at St. Jude Catholic Church, Benton, LA with Fr. Pike Thomas officiating. Visitation with the family will be held at the Church at 11:00 a.m.
The family would like to express sincere appreciation to Benton FD, Bossier Parish EMS, and the emergency room staff at Willis-Knighton Bossier. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to honor Donnie may be made to St. Jude Catholic Church, Attn: Continuing the Vision, 4700 Palmetto Road Benton, LA 71006.
