Obituary of Fred Douglas

Fred “Freddie Boy” Douglas was born January 6, 1948 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Richard Douglas and Loretta Jones Douglas, both of whom preceded him in death.

Fred confessed his belief in Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Camp Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. E.G. Hodge. 

After graduating from Princeton High School in 1965, Fred served in, and was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1970.

Fred was a compassionate positive person and always greeted you with a smile.  He believed in sharing his wisdom with children.  He believed that God gave him wisdom and sharing it was his responsibility. Fred loved and enjoyed spending time with not only family, but with his many friends. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He spent time tinkering and figuring out what made anything mechanical work.  He was a very skillful handyman and Jack of all trades.  Fred used his talents to help anyone that he could. 

Fred was married to Peggy Joann McHenry.  To this union one son, Christopher Michael Douglas was born.

Over his working life, Fred worked several different skilled jobs and retired from the Louisiana State Parks Department in 2008.

Fred made his Heavenly transition on October 30, 2018.  He leaves to cherish his memories, one son, Christopher Michael Douglas; one daughter, Annette Walker; six grandchildren; four sisters, five brothers; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

The family gives special thanks to the caregivers at Nightingale Hospice.  Fred’s legacy will be passed down for many generations by his family.  His smile will last forever.
