Mary Paige Johnson, 22, passed away peacefully at her Shreveport home February 11, 2015.
Services will be held at First United Methodist Shreveport at the Head of Texas Street on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 10 a.m. The family will receive visitors following the service in the church parlor.
Mary Paige was born in Bossier City on September 25, 1992 to Penney Patterson Johnson and the late E. Paul Johnson. She was a senior at Northwestern State University majoring in Psychology with ambitions of becoming a counselor. While at Northwestern, Mary Paige was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority, a Freshman Connector, PIKE Dream Girl, and an athletic trainer for both the Demon football and basketball programs. She was presented as a Lady of the Court at the 2014 Holiday in Dixie Cotillion. Mary Paige was a graduate of Loyola College Prep, class of 2011, where she was an athletic trainer for her beloved Flyers. Mary Paige was a talented artist who loved nothing more than to paint for the people she loved. One of her greatest pleasures in life was listening to her sister, PeyPey, sing and play the piano.
Mary Paige was preceded in death by her father, E. Paul Johnson and grandfathers Walter "WW" Johnson and James "Jimmy" Patterson. She is survived by her mother, Penney Patterson Johnson; younger sister, Peyton; uncle Mark "Shine" Johnson; grandmothers Mary Jane Johnson and Rosemary Grisham Patterson; and aunts Pam Johnston and Peggy Foster. She leaves behind several other loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is also survived by her best friend since the White House at St. Mark's Cathedral School, Walker Gamble.
From the day Mary Paige was born she lit up every room she entered. She was a generous, loving person who was selfless in giving of her time and of herself. She was a pick me up text message and a smile on a bad day, a big hug; incredibly gifted with the ability to make anyone around her laugh and feel good! She was crazy and fun and everyone loved her for it. Mary Paige was a loyal daughter, sister, niece, cousin, friend and Cowboys fan! She was loved and will be greatly missed by many.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in her honor to the athletic department of Loyola College Prep in Shreveport.
Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home Bossier City, Louisiana (318) 742-5361.
