Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John Steven White was born on January 14th, 1949 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He passed from this life on February 5th, 2021. Steve was known for his gregarious personality and generous spirit. As a teacher in Caddo Parish for 33 years, Steve poured into his students and cared deeply for each one. He constantly looked for ways to make others' lives better, whether that meant helping his family or revving up support for a local ministry. He especially had a heart for the vulnerable and discarded, and no one who met him could ever walk away feeling less than important. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Karl and Pearl White, his brother, Karl White, Jr., and his wife of 33 years, Marianne Futch White. He leaves behind one daughter, Jennifer Booth and husband Phillip, grandsons Caleb and Jonathan Booth, one sister, Agnes Hanson, two nieces, Ann Ray and husband Chuck, and Dawn Hanson and husband Olli Patrikainen, mother-in-law Beryl Futch, sister-in-law Karen Futch, and many, many dear friends. Steve leaves behind a legacy of generous, selfless love that has impacted many and reflects his Lord's love in his life. A graveside service will be held at Centuries Memorial Cemetery Wednesday, February 10th, at 2:00 p.m. Associate Pastor of Brookwood John Harp will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the church's ministries Heart of Hope or Purchased. The family would like to thank Farmerville Nursing and Rehabilitation and Elara Hospice for caring for Steve in his final months.
