Obituary of Tommy Lee Owens

Tommy Lee Owens was born Galbraith, Louisiana on October 21, 1939. Sadly, Tom passed away on June 18, 2021 in Shreveport with his family by his side. A service to celebrate Tom’s life will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Boone Funeral Home. He graduated from Fair Park High School and shortly after began a long career in grocery business. As the owner and operator of Cotten’s Grocery he made many friends along the way and supported his community. In his spare-time he flew experimental aircraft. Flying many aircraft for their voyage flight. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. He served his community as a member of the Gideons, serving as Chaplain at one time and a long-time Mason. At the time of his death, he was self-employed in Real Estate. Preceding Tom in death is his wife, Jeanette Owens; son, Jim Owens; and brother, Earl Owens. He is survived by daughter, Michele Turnage and husband Brian; grandson, Connor Brady; granddaughter, Laurel Brady; sister, Pat Davis and husband Joe; and other family members, and many friends. The family requests that donations be made to a local pet shelter in lieu of flowers. Tom believed him doing whatever he could to help others. He loved life and lived on his terms. He loved his family and they loved him deeply. His legacy will continue on through his grandchildren.
