Obituary of Johnny A. Byrd

Johnny A. Byrd was born October 25, 1940 and passed away peacefully June 24, 2021 surrounded by his family. A memorial service for Johnny will be 11:00 AM on July 9, 2021 at Boone Funeral Home. The family will receive guest one hour prior to the service. Johnny was the owner and operator of American Dust Control Inc. He enjoyed race cars, hunting, fishing, his Sunday school class at Blanchard Baptist Church, and Justin at Simple Church. He was a very competitive person that enjoyed life to the fullest. During Johnny’s early life he proudly served his country in the US Navy. Preceding Johnny in death are his parents, William and Leta Byrd; and nephew, John Nathan Treece. He is survived by the love of his life and wife Truth Byrd; daughters, Michelle Byrd Green and husband Phillip Green, Marie Byrd Streetman, and Debbie Joyner; son, John “Rebel” Byrd; grandchildren, Tyler Scogin and wife Jessica, Taylor Traylor and husband Jeremy, Jerry Joyner and wife Jamie, Jennifer Joyner, Leta Joyner, Michael Streetman and Steven Streetman; nieces, Truth Ann Tullis and husband Brandon and Harley Partington and husband Troy; one great niece and two great-nephews; four great-granddaughters, four great-grandsons;; sister-in-law, Drew Ann Watts; brother-in-law, Roberts Watts and wife Genette; and many other family members and friends. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Trey Beene, Joe Carter, Ken Brown, Scotty Brown, Brandon Tullis, Troy Partington, Gene Presley, and Bryan Simpson. The family would like to express their appreciation to his fist bumping, crawfish eating buddy, and amazing caretaker Vicki Jones. Also to Joe and Cindy Carter, Gene Presley, Trey Beene, Drew Ann Watts, BJ Taylor, Debbie Brantley, Holly Lim, Kristin with Hospice, and wonderful staff at STAT. The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children in Shreveport, in memory of Gene and Cynthia Watts. Johnny was a caring, loving and giving person. He was loved but we know he is perfect again and as he would say “Thank you, thank you very much.” He is with his Lord and Savior, Jesus and many family members and love ones. He will be greatly missed.
