Obituary of Helen Jo Vaughan McGuffey

On August 2, 2021, Helen Jo McGuffey went to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 84. She was born on October 2, 1936 to Loy Pelvy and Edna (Flora) Vaughan in Hall Summit, Louisiana, and grew up in Springhill, Louisiana with her two brothers. She married Tommy McGuffey of Plain Dealing, Louisiana, and together they raised their two sons Daniel “Danny” and Charles “Monk.” Helen Jo loved cooking for her family and friends and gardening with her husband. Her favorite place to be was at the lake. She often could be found sitting on a dock, fishing pole in hand, and sweet tea by her side. She is preceded in death by her parents, L.P. and Edna; husband, Tommy; son, Danny; and brothers James and George. Left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Monk and wife, Beki of Sarepta, LA; four grandchildren, Danny McGuffey and wife Melissa of Grafton, WV, Martha McGuffey of Columbus, OH, Mallory McGuffey and fiancé William Duke of Baton Rouge, LA, and Emily Dill and husband Brennan of Hammond, LA; three great-grandchildren, Rielee and Arya McGuffey, and baby Dill arriving September 2021. Visitation will be held at Old Sarepta Missionary Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m. on August 5, 2021. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m., and will be officiated by Bro. Todd Pickard.
