Wilma M Burns, 76, of Haughton, passed away on August 27, 2021 at Willis Knighton North in Shreveport. A celebration of life will be held at Belle Park Baptist Church on September 4th at 10:00 AM with Brother Keith Lauder officiating. Internment will be privately held at the Northwest Louisiana Veteran’s Cemetery where she will be interred with her husband, Robert E Burns. Wilma was born in Harrisburg, PA to Leon W Magill and Margaret Magill Taylor on October 7, 1944. She went to William Penn High School and graduated in 1962. She went on to earn an English degree from Miami University. She retired from an advertising career she loved after many years. She was very involved with the Belle Park Baptist Church Youth Program and was very happy to be a Guardian Ad Ledum for the state of Louisiana and working with CASA helping children. She enjoyed crafting, camping, and taking cruises with friends and family. Wilma is preceded in death by her husband, Robert E Burns; her daughter, Jill K Davis; her mother, Margaret Magill Taylor; her father, Leon W Magill; and her sister, Patricia Knipe. Wilma is survived by her son, Robert J Burns and his husband, Jesse; her daughter, Lalena A Burns; her brother, Richard Magill and his wife, Patricia; her brother, Charles Magill and his wife, Rosalie; her 4 grandchildren, Tiffany Shatto, Joseph Boswell, Travis Hoffman-Burns, and Jose Hoffman-Burns; her 3 great grandchildren, Micah Shatto, Jayden Shatto, and Kayleigh Boswell; her nieces, Connie and Christine; and her nephews, Kevin, Charles, Richard, and Leonard. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Association or to the Belle Park Baptist Church Youth Program. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Brother Keith, Brother Scott and the Belle Park Baptist Church community for their love, faith, and assistance. John 11:25-26 – Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die.
