Obituary of Charlotte Fay Meeks

Please share a memory of Charlotte to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Though never married, Charlotte had a heart of love for people and a desire to reflect the love of Christ to others. Charlotte loved interaction with people and never met a stranger. She endeared herself to others easily. As a young adult she worked in the health care field for several years. Saved at an early age, her strong faith was evident. She loved to read her Bible, attend church, and fellowship with her church family. Charlotte was a beautiful soul, with an ever-present smile, generous with hugs, and a genuine caring attitude. She took any opportunity to advance the cause of Christ. With the grace of God, she was gently ushered into her eternal home, peacefully, in her sleep. Charlotte is preceded in death by mother, Angeline Marie Vise Meeks of Homer, LA and father, Elmer Leo Meeks of Connerville, OK; grandparents, Harvard Vise of Homer, LA and Effie Jacks Vise of Arcadia, LA; and special friend, Van Parvino of Jefferson, TX. She is survived by sister, Sandra Schmitt and husband, David, of Jacksonville, FL, brother, Larry Meeks, of Tishomingo, OK, aunts, Ann Rivers and Faye Vise, uncles, Bobby Vise and wife Carolyn, and Charles Hughes, many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was a long-time member of Linwood Baptist Church of Shreveport, LA, where she leaves behind a large God-given family. Charlotte’s family would like to express special thanks to her pastor, Dr. Ed Gonzalez for his love and support in the years since her mother passed away and to all her church family, especially Sid and Carolyn Patterson, for their compassionate care and prayers all these years. At the time of her death, Charlotte was a resident of Harmony House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Shreveport, LA, where she has left many friends. Special thanks also to the entire staff of Harmony House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for lovingly and patiently caring for Charlotte’s special needs in the good times and the bad. And a very special thank you to Nursing Assistant, Debra O’Neal, whose love for Charlotte was evident in the exemplary care she gave, many times far above and beyond her job requirements. Debra called Charlotte her “baby”, as she lovingly ministered exceptional care to her every day. Debra, you are a shining star in her book and ours. All who knew Charlotte will greatly miss her.
