I remember Brian from the time when he finished his two years of national service in the army and joined S Booth Horrocks & Sons, Heating Engineers of Richard Leys, Kettering. He was “on the tools”, I on the drawing board.
There were times when I had to stand in for him as pipe-fitter’s mate whilst he had his day off to attend the technical college.
In his obituary, the reference to “St Mary’s College” should read “Kettering Technical College, St Mary’s Road”. I attended the same between 1953 and 1956.
Of all the employees at Horrocks, Brian was one of the easiest blokes to get on with. You can probably guess that from the ready smile seen in his photograph.
I am deeply sorry to read that he died from Mesothelioma. He was not the only one to do so, from what should probably be classed as an “industrial disease”. See https://www.leighday.co.uk/LeighDay/media/LeighDay/documents/Asbestos/Andreou-ruling.pdf

From the days that I've had the pleasure of being in his company, Brian's
just a genuinely "good to the soul" person. Always joking, smiling and having a good time. He was such a good conversationalist and just great to be around. Brian was so good at making other people happy.
We've lost a great man and I will miss him dearly...
I will never forget you Brian
