Obituary of Janet Joan Shavers

Janet Joan Reister Shavers, 79 of Bossier City, LA passed away on October 13, 2021. The funeral service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, 290 Idema St., Shreveport, LA 71106 at 11:00 am. Pastor Perry Culver will be officiating. Visitation will be held at 10:00 am prior to the funeral at Christ Lutheran Church. She will be laid with her husband and son later this week at Hill Crest Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Boone Funeral Home. Jan was born in Medina, ND on October 9, 1942. She graduated from El Camino High School in Sacramento, CA. She was married to H.P. Shavers Jr. in Sept. 1963 for 15 years. She was a homemaker and volunteered with many organizations. She loved old cars and could often be seen driving around town in her 1929 Ford Model T. If she had a free moment, she was crocheting and knitting and donated most of her work to charities. Jan was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church. She served the church in many ways. She has been serving as Financial Secretary, Board of Layleaders, Forget-Me-Not Ministry, Crocheting Blankets Ministry, kitchen crew, yard crew, Empty Nesters (games) and many others. She preferred to work behind the scenes. Jan is survived by sons, Daniel Shavers and Steven Shavers, grand children Patrick Shavers and Nixon Shavers and great grandchildren Aubree and Eli. Jan is preceded in death by her husband H.P. Shavers Jr. and son Roger Shavers. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be given to 1) the building fund at Christ Lutheran Church, 290 Idema St., Shreveport, LA 71106 2), or to the endowment fund of The St. Louis Philharmonic Orchestra stlphilharmonic.org 3) or to Artist Presentation Society apsmusic.org.
