Obituary of Peggy Bamburg
Please share a memory of Peggy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Peggy Sue (Barnett) Bamburg, 68, of Bossier City, passed away peacefully, on October 22, 2021. Although she successfully fought through two separate diagnoses of breast cancer, it was a third battle with cancer that took her away from us. She may not have beat the cancer here, but we know that she won this battle in Heaven.
Peggy was born at MacDill AFB in Tampa, Florida, to the late J. C. and Phyllis Barnett on January 4, 1953. Her family moved to Bossier City where she graduated from Parkway High School in 1971. Peggy worked for 43 years for various physicians, and retired from the Musculoskeletal Institute of Louisiana last year.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 46 years, Bruce Bamburg, her brother, David Barnett and wife Becki of Tampa, Florida, sister-in-law, Robin Moore and husband Pat of Jefferson, Texas and brother-in-law, Mike Bamburg of Fouke, Arkansas. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews and her close friend, Cathy Peterson.
Peggy and Bruce loved to travel. They always chose the scenic route on back roads and through old towns, visiting every antique shop along the way. That is where Peggy became an avid collector of cat teapots. She collected many types of cats, including real ones. Gracie, Teddy, and Henry brought Peggy much joy and comfort, especially during these last few years.
Some may be surprised to know that Peggy was an expert in firearms identification. This pistol-packing-mama loved to shoot and loved sparring with gun dealers at the gun shows.
The family expresses many thanks to Dr. Chintapallie who cared for Peggy during all three cancer battles. She also received great care from the nurses, aides, and other staff at Christus Hospice & Palliative Care. Peggy wanted to remain at home for as long as possible and that could not have happened without the sitters from Home Instead, especially Joniqua and Callie.
A celebration of Peggy’s life will be held at Boone Funeral Home, 2156 Airline Drive, Bossier City, LA on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 10:30 am. Officiating the service will be Pastor Perry Culver from Christ Lutheran Church. The family will receive visitors from 9:30 am. until the service begins. Burial will be in Rose Neath Cemetery in Bossier City, LA.
