Obituary of Laura Robinson Wilson
Please share a memory of Laura to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Laura Robinson Wilson of Haughton, Louisiana departed this life December 14, 2021, peacefully, after an arduous battle with multiple myeloma.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn Robinson and Inez Meek Robinson, and by her two brothers, Glenn and James Robinson. She is survived by her husband of forty years, Randy Wilson, and their daughter, Nancy Mobley of Bossier City, and her husband Briggs, Adam Wilson of Shreveport, and his companion Stefanie Fisher, her grandson Stuart Mobley, as well as two nephews and a large group of cousins.
Laura spent most of her life in the Shreveport area. She graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1965, and attended Louisiana Tech. She later studied organ under Norman Z. Fisher, and was the assistant organist at First Presbyterian Church, Shreveport, where she met her future husband, Randy.
Laura was a church organist and choir director in several churches in the Shreveport/Bossier area and in east Texas. Church music service gave her great satisfaction and joy. Two recent projects that gave her great joy was participating in the purchase of the Johannas organ and the rebuild of the Steinway grand piano at Mary Queen of Peace.
In recent years, Laura cared for her grandson, Stuart, who was the light of her later life. Known as Gaga, she and Stuart spent many days together while Briggs and Nancy worked. In addition to church music, and caring for her grandson, Laura was an avid reader. You would almost always find her with a book, and even in her late days, she had a book close by her side.
A visitation will be held on December 17, 2021 between 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 7738 Barksdale Blvd, Bossier City, LA 71112. A memorial mass will be held on December 18, 2021, at 10:00 AM again at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
The family would like to send special thanks to the Willis Knighton Cancer Center, specifically Drs. Patel and Veluvolu, and to Dr. Atilla Balogh, who gave Laura wonderful care until the very end. The family would also like to thank Southern Care Hospice Services, who let Laura pass exactly as she wanted - at home surrounded by loved ones, and without pain.
