Obituary of Virginia Lee Bacon

Virginia Lee Johnson Bacon died peacefully at home on February 15, 2022 in Shreveport, LA at the age of 90. Virginia Lee is survived by her daughter, Karen Bacon Fisher, her sons Michael Bacon (Janet) and Robert Paul Armond Bacon, of Shreveport along with a brother, Billy J. Johnson, sister-in-law, Patricia Sanders Johnson; daughter-in-law, Lisa Hedges Bacon, and her grandchildren, Christopher Fisher (Ashley), Jarred Fisher (Elizabeth), Anneliese Bacon Reed (Brad), Dr. Joshua Bacon (Lauren), Evangeline Bacon, Patrick Bacon, Daniel Bacon and seven great grandchildren, numerous other cousins, nephews and their extended families. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Bacon, Sr., a son, Ben Bacon Jr., her parents Willie Lee and Mary Virginia Johnson, and a brother, John Patrick Johnson. She was born on July 22, 1931, graduated from Fair Park and attended Centenary College. She attended Kings Highway Christian church most of her life. For many years, along with her late husband, taught countless Sunday school students in CYF, Chi Rho, and State Conference. She was an accomplished artist in oil and watercolors, ceramics, and loved to knit. A memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 am MARCH 15, 2022, at Kings Highway Christian Church Family Center, with a reception to follow. Rev. Mack McCarter and Rev. Steve Lesher will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Virginia Lee’s life. There will be a visitation with the family immediately following the service in the Family Center. The family would like to thank Christus Hospice Service and Spencer Care Services. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Virginia Bacon Youth Fund of Kings Highway Christian Church or the organization of your choosing.
