Obituary of Samuel "Sam" Bruce Love

Samuel “Sam” Bruce Love met his Lord and Savior on March 26, 2022, with his wife by his side. A Celebration of Life service will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at Boone Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Blanchard Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Rev. Tommy Patton of Cypress Baptist Church. The family will receive guests starting at 1:00 PM on Tuesday at Boone. Sam was born in Shreveport to Emmett and Lauenia Love. He graduated from Fair Park High School in 1953. Shortly after, Sam joined the US Marine Corps where he proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. After his military service, he continued his education at Northwestern University, majoring in accounting. After receiving a BS in accounting, he obtained the distinction of Certified Public Accountant. In his spare time, Sam could be found on the golf course or watching LSU play football, often yelling at the screen. He also loved collecting cut glass and antique pocket watches, as well as restoring old cars. Waiting for Sam in Heaven are his parents; brother, Eugene Love; sister, Patricia Culpepper; in-laws, Wayne and Louise Johnston; and brother-in-law, Wayne Johnston, Jr. Left to cherish immeasurable memories are his wife of 41 years, Janis Love; sons, Ken Love and wife Mindy of Shreveport, and Justin Love and partner Joni Bosley of Phoenix; daughters, Michelle Willis Bevill and husband Jason of Hot Springs Village, and Catherine Worn of Bossier City; grandchildren, Zachary, Joshua, Jared, Alex, Kevin, Melissa, Melanie, and Megan; a number of great-grandchildren; sister, Frances Lord; and numerous other family members and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to any Alzheimer’s Association to further the research for a cure. Sam was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was known for his kind spirit, generosity, witty sense of humor and infectious laugh. His legacy will continue through the memories and love he displayed on a daily basis. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
